TENOR
Ivan Momirov made his debut only twenty one years old on the stage of Deutsche Oper – Berlin in the role of Vladimir from the opera Prince Igor. The same year, the opera legend Ghena Dimitrova invited him to take part in her tribute – the gala performances of Nabucco on the stage of Sofia National Opera. Soon after, he performed at the Musikverein Golden Hall – Vienna side by side with the opera colossus Nicolai Ghiaurov. Next came the special prize of Jose Carreras from the Julian Gayarre Competition – Pamplona, as well as invitation for participation in Placido Domingo’s competition – Operalia 2000.
His debut on the stage of the Monte Carlo Operatic Theatre in the role of Des Grieux (Manon by Massenet) as well as the series of concert in Italy in memory of the world famous spanish tenor Alfredo Kraus opened his way to the world leading opera theatre such as “Covent Garden” – London, “Teatro Dell Opera” – Rome, “Teatro Carlo Felice” – Genoa, “Teatro San Carlo” – Lisbon, the Mariinsky Theatre – Saint Petersburg etc.
Mr. Momirov was a guest performer at the opera festivals in Baden Baden, “Stars of the White Nights” – Saint Petersburg, The Verdi festival in Parma, The Gergiev Festival in Rotterdam.
His repertory includes over thirty of the central tenor parts in the operas – Un ballo in maschera, Il Trovatore, I Due Foscari, Don Carlo, La Traviata, Giovanna d’Arco, Ernani, Macbeth, Aida, La Forza del destino, I Lombardi, Messa di Requiem (Verdi), Simon Boccanegra, Jerusalem, Otello, La Boheme, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Turandot, Manon Lescaut, La Fanciulla del West, La Gioconda, Cavalleria Rusticana, I Pagliacci, Adriana Lecouvreur, Carmen, Le Contes d’Hoffmann, Lucia di Lammermoor, Norma, Werther, Faust, L’Amico Fritz, Romeo et Juliette, Eugene Onegin, Dame Pique, Prince Igor, Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk, etc. Mr. Momirov has partnered some of the greatest opera stars of our time - Katia Ricciarelli, Maria Guleghina, Mariella Devia, June Anderson, Francesca Patane, Inva Mula, Dunja Vejzovic, Sonya Yoncheva, Krasimira Stoyanova, Anna Pirozzi Leo Nucci, Renato Bruson, Carlo Colombara, Ferruccio Furlanetto etc.
Mr. Momirov has sung under the baton of a number of famous conductors such as Bruno Bartoletti, Michel Plasson, Nello Santi, Valery Gergiev, Michail Jurowski, Gian Luigi Gelmetti, Marc Minkowsky, Renato Palumbo, Daniele Gallegari, Yves Abel, Alberto Veronese, etc.
Mr. Momirov has worked with remarkable directors such as Andrej Kontchalovsky, Werner Herzog, Pierluigi Pizzi, Ermano Olmi, Alberto Fassini, Nicolas Joel, etc.
Mr. Momirov’s recording work includes Verdi’s Jerusalem (for RAI Italian Television), Un ballo in maschera and Requiem.
The art of Mr.Momirov - “a voice with antique stamp, a combination of Franco Corelli and Carlo Bergonzi”, according to the valuation of the Italian criticism (“La Repubblica”) – is applauded by the audience of several continents - Europe, Asia, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand.
