Jure Bučević , violinist and conductor, was born in Split, which is also where he completed primary and secondary music school.
After completing university studies in violin, he started working as a teacher and orchestra leader at the Josip Hatze Music School. He is a long-standing member of the orchestra of the Opera Ensemble of the Croatian National Theatre in Split, and he has also recently become assistant conductor (mo.Ivo Lipanović, mo.Hari Zlodre, mo. Repušić. )
In 2018, he was awarded his second university degree by the Music Academy in Sarajevo, a Master’s degree in conducting.
He trained under mo.Uroš Lajovic and prof.Colin Metters.
He has collaborated with many ensembles from Croatia and abroad, out of which he wishes to highlight the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, the Sarajevo hilharmonic, the Orchestra of the Opera Ensemble of the Croatian National Theatre in Osijek, the Orchestra of the Opera Ensemble of the Croatian National Theatre in Split and the Chamber Orchestra of the City of Split, of which he is also the founder and art director. He has also appeared as a guest performer on many stages in Zagreb, Stuttgart, Sarajevo, Madrid…
One of the most important awards he has received is first place at the prestigious orchestra competition held in 2017 in Zagreb. He also won the Oscar of Knowledge Oskar znanja) the same year.
In November 2017, he became a municipal council member of the City of Split. He is also active in the cultural life of the city through his work in the committee of the Multimedia Cultural Centre in Split (MKC) and the Sports Amenities Public Institution.
Reportoire of mo. Bučević includes opera as well as balet and symphony.
From october 2019 he is Artistic director of Opera Hnk Split.
